IFAD and international partners came together to explore how remittances can drive economic resilience, financial inclusion and rural development across Latin America.

In partnership with IOM Zimbabwe and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, IDFR 2026 convened government and diaspora stakeholders in Harare to explore how remittances can drive entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and inclusive growth across the country.

At the IDFR 2026 global event, governments, financial institutions, and diaspora communities came together to explore how the $650+ billion in annual remittances can go beyond daily needs to drive rural resilience, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic opportunity.

For IDFR 2026, Senegal showcased how remittances, supporting a third of rural households, are being channeled into financial inclusion, climate resilience, and rural development through IFAD's DRI and ResilientRemit programmes.

To mark IDFR, Tajikistan combined practical impact with recognition, training migrant families in financial literacy and honoring 45 leading women entrepreneurs and banking professionals at a national awards ceremony.

The REMIT PRIME Central Asia programme, implemented by IFAD and co-financed by the European Union, has for the second consecutive year supported the Bishkek International Finance Forum (BIFF 2026), held on May 29, 2026, in Bishkek under the theme “Finance in the Era of Digital Transformation: Security, Innovation, and Trust”.
