IDFR was observed in Tajikistan with two initiatives: a hands-on financial literacy training for migrant families and a national awards ceremony celebrating 45 of the country’s leading women in business and banking.
Together, the events reflect this year’s global IDFR theme, “Beyond Transfers: Turning Remittances into Rural Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Employment,” led in partnership with the French Presidency of the G7.
On June 15, roughly 25 participants gathered at the Migrant Resource Centre in Dushanbe for an intensive training on financial literacy and remittance management. Delivered through the EU-funded REMIT PRIME Programme and organized by the Training Centre of the Association of Financial Organizations of Tajikistan (AFOT), in cooperation with ICMPD/MRC and the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population, the session equipped migrant families with practical tools to manage money transfers, strengthen everyday financial skills, and make informed, long-term financial decisions — directly supporting IDFR’s global mission to build resilience among remittance-receiving households.
IFAD also participated in two national competitions: “25 Successful Women Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan” and “20 Successful Women in the Banking Sector of Tajikistan.” Organized by AFOT with support from the National Bank of Tajikistan and backed by REMIT PRIME, the competitions recognized financial professionals across categories including agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, banking IT, and credit services. The high-profile ceremony honored all 45 winners. It was attended by senior officials from the National Bank, the State Committee on Investments, and the Committee on Women and Family Affairs, alongside international partners including UN Women and the EBRD. Together, the training and awards underscore IFAD’s continued commitment to advancing financial inclusion, women’s leadership, and rural economic growth across Tajikistan.
