The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya), and IFAD jointly launched the 2025 Remittances Household Survey Report, delivering fresh evidence on the scale, use, and impact of diaspora remittances in Kenya.
Held under this year’s IDFR theme, “Remittances for Rural Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Employment,” the launch brought together government institutions, financial service providers, money transfer operators, fintechs, development partners, diaspora organizations, academia, and civil society to explore how remittances can drive financial inclusion, diaspora investment, and rural economic opportunity.
The programme featured a presentation of the survey’s key findings, remarks from CBK, IFAD, and FSD Kenya, the official report launch, and an open Q&A with participating institutions. The findings are expected to shape public policy, regulation, and financial-sector innovation going forward, reinforcing remittances’ role not just as a lifeline for households, but as a catalyst for strengthening livelihoods and expanding economic opportunity across Kenya.
