Rome/Seville, 30 June 2025 – A new €4.26 million initiative will support thousands of rural families in Honduras, Senegal and Pakistan to adapt to climate change and strengthen their resilience to weather shocks. The project ‘ResilientRemit’, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aims to facilitate the use of migrant remittances and diaspora investment through access to savings, credit, insurance, and other financial services, for actions contributing to climate resilience in rural communities.
Launched today at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville, Spain, this global initiative will scale up the development impact of remittances, the largest source of external finance for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and among the most stable and impactful forms of external finance for developing countries.
