The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR), observed annually on 16 June, is a United Nations–recognized observance raising awareness for the millions of migrants who support their families through the money they send home. Under the 2026 global theme, “Beyond Transfers: Turning Remittances into Rural Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Employment” – led in partnership with the French Presidency of the G7 – the campaign explores how remittances can drive long-term economic opportunities, particularly in rural areas.

This partnership directly advanced IDFR and IFAD strategic priorities to foster financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and rural resilience by promoting women’s entrepreneurship and leadership.
