To mark the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) 2026, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launched the 2025 Remittances Household Survey Report.

The survey provides updated evidence on the magnitude, direction, use and impact of diaspora remittances in Kenya. Its findings inform public policy, regulation, financial-sector innovation and private-sector strategies aimed at strengthening the development impact of remittances.

The event brought together government institutions, financial service providers, money transfer operators, fintechs, development partners, diaspora organizations, academia and civil society. Discussions focused on how remittances can contribute to financial inclusion, diaspora engagement, investment, rural resilience, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

The launch took place under the IDFR 2026 theme, “Remittances for Rural Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Employment,” highlighting the role of migrant remittances in supporting households, strengthening livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.
