Eurogiro’s “Financial Supermarket” to allow post offices to offer modern financial services

May 20, 2020 | Sector: Private sector

Covid 19 has made one thing clear: Post Offices are more important than ever. Not only as the heart of the community, but also as a place where people can send and receive essential remittances.

Eurogiro has proudly supported Postal Operators for almost 30 years. We are committed to helping Post Offices fight back against these tough times and do more to help their local communities – with a strong, widened and appealing offering.

That’s why we created Eurogiro Financial Supermarket, a one stop digital platform that allows Post Offices to offer a variety of modern financial services to its customers, especially remittances. By using the extensive postal network, remittances can be sent and received in even the most rural or hard to reach locations, as long as there is a Post Office.

And, despite this unprecedented hardship, Postal Operators have shown great resilience in order to facilitate the flow of remittances.

In the height of the Covid crisis Bulgarian and Albanian Posts launched Financial Supermarket, and two more European Postal Operators will launch very soon. On top of that three non-European Postal Operators will also go live later this year.

In fact, history was made in May 2020 when the first Postal branded real-time Post to Post money transfer, was sent via Financial Supermarket.

That’s why we’re proud to support our members, and the crucial service they provide to advance global financial inclusion.  Eurogiro believes that financial inclusion is a key enabler to reducing poverty and boosting prosperity, and we’re committed to working with our partners and members to realize our goal.
